Christmas in the Square!
Frisco Christmas in the Square is the largest choreographed lights and music display in North Texas, and draws more than 750,000 visitors annually. Families, friends and holiday guests enjoy the spectacular show, made possible by 11.5 miles of wiring and more than 8 miles of extension cords.
This holiday lights and music event is running daily from 6-10 p.m. through Dec. 31. The light and music show is free to experience, but some other activities available require a fee.
Want to see it snow in Frisco? Snow flurries take place in Frisco Square every 15 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays. Christmas in the Square also features an outdoor ice skating rink, carriage rides, Christmas tree lot and more. For questions, call 469.633.1721.
Frisco Author’s New Book Being Published: The Christmas Gift
Deb Haggerty at Elk Lake Publishing, Inc., contracted world rights to Frisco author John Alexander’s picture book, The Christmas Gift. It’s illustrated by Angela Capel. Publication began in November.
In the book, a mouse in her mansion on the hill answers the question, “What do you want for Christmas?”
John writes books that appeal to elementary school children to capture their imagination and help them discover the love of reading early in life. He released his first book, titled The Christmas Garden, in October 2014.
Neighborhoods Pull Together Post-Tornados
When multiple monster tornadoes hit the North Dallas region in October, family-owned Olympic Exteriors in Frisco quickly went to affected areas to inspect homeowners’ roofs or structures and answer insurance questions.
The Elevated Roofing team, also based in Frisco, gave out 250 Chick-fil-A sandwiches, 15 cases of water and chips to hungry homeowners and workers who were doing storm clean up after the tornadoes. They also sent a team to serve an elderly couple who had 10 trees fall in their 1.7-acre yard, and just needed a helping hand.
New Local Restaurant Opens With Texas Craft Burgers and Brews
Hammbone Willys opened in Frisco at 3290 Main St., Suite 202. The restaurant serves Texas craft burgers and brews, as well as salads, sausages, sliders, loaded fries and wings. The first Hammbone Willys location is in Plano.
Two of their popular burgers are called The Star of Texas and the Texas Wrangler. They also serve a burger bowl. For those looking for a non-meat version, they have the Chipotle Black Bean (vegetable) Burger. And, there is a kids’ menu.
Desserts include peach cobbler and a Texas Five-Layer Chocolate Chocolate Cake.
