Your first memories of Christmas are the anticipation of Santa Claus coming to visit. It’s about the time with family, the turkey dinner and most importantly, the GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip. (Okay, your mileage may vary.)

When you have your own family, it’s about seeing that look of surprise on your child’s face when they wake up Christmas morning.

But when you reach beyond the immediate and think in terms of your community, it’s about the real spirit of Christmas – the giving, the service and general feeling of happiness you get when you see good souls doing good things.

I got to experience some of that a month early putting together this issue. From the remarkable young musicians on our cover to our “power service couple” profile.

The holidays can bring out anyone’s best or their worst, and we brought out some of the best of Frisco.
