Running for Charity
On your mark, get set, run, Frisco, run! Looking to run for a great cause this year? Grab your favorite running shoes and join in on the fun as the third annual Texas Big Star Half Marathon is held on Saturday April 14th at The Collin College Preston Ridge Campus in Frisco, Texas!
When not running his law firm in Dallas, Paul Simon is the Race Director and Board Member for the Texas Big Star Half Marathon. He and his wife are residents of Frisco and active in the running community. They decided to take on the workload of managing this charity run that gives back to several charities by issuing grants. In fact, what makes this race unique is this race is the first half-marathon to ever be developed in Frisco Texas or the surrounding Collin County area.
Over two thousand runners participated in 2017. The goal for 2018 is at least two thousand five hundred runners get involved for this great cause.
The 5K Run will start and end at Collin College Preston Ridge Campus. Throughout the course there will be hydration stations including water and Gatorade. Restroom stops and on-course first-aid monitoring will be in close proximity for runners. Just as last year, this half-marathon is geared towards avid runners. This year, however, they have opened it up for the entire family to participate by adding in a one mile fun run/walk to those who want to be included in the event on a lesser scale.
Upon completing the race, runners will be awarded with medals (1K participants will be handed out ribbons) at the Finishers Fest area. Enjoy the after run festivities with the music from Emerald City Band. Obtain race reports, photo finishes and more!
This race benefits the North Texas Community Giving Foundation. This foundation gives away grants to numerous charitable organizations. Last year, this event raised over $150,000 to those in need. Let’s see if we can’t beat this number, Frisco! To sign up and for more information on the upcoming race, visit: https://runtexasbigstar.com/index.html
