A Savior is Born!
In this wonderful time of year, there is so much joy in celebrating Christ: His birthday, his life, his mission on earth to accomplish our salvation. We are celebrating the best news the world has ever heard—our Savior is born!
As we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, thoughts turn naturally toward those we love. We choose gifts for them with special care. We put much thought into messages written on Christmas cards. We want the people closest to us to know how much we love them, and rightly so. But as Christians, we must also show that love to others, by reaching out and sharing the awesome wonders of our Savior’s birth. Remember the angel of the Lord standing before the shepherds in the fields around Bethlehem, and the way the words poured out, a beautiful ode of joy:
“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord…. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
That’s a joy we shouldn’t contain. During this glorious Christmas season, we invite anyone who wants to celebrate this great gift to join us at Prestonwood Baptist Church!
One of the highlights of the Christmas season at Prestonwood is The Gift of Christmas, our annual Broadway-style production complete with state-of-the-art special effects, visually stunning elements, live animals, flying angels, a massive choir and a powerful presentation of the birth of our Lord. Some 65,000 people from throughout the region and surrounding states are expected to attend the 13 performances this month. Then on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we will rejoice in the birth of our Lord with 10 candlelight services (Plano Campus, North Campus and Prestonwood en Español). What a beautiful sight it is to see the Worship Center aglow with the powerful image of thousands of lit candles!
At Prestonwood, we feel incredibly blessed to share Christ’s love and peace and glory with our community during this Christmas season. What better gift can we possibly give?
Dr. Jack Graham is pastor of the more than 40,000-member Prestonwood Baptist Church, which has campuses in Plano and Prosper.
